RFP design for Discover Puerto Rico tourism

For a pitch, our creative strategy team at H+K Strategies wanted to do something more unique than our usual PowerPoint presentation to win over the client, Discover Puerto Rico. After several brainstorm sessions up against a very tight turnaround, it was decided to create a mini-magazine chock-full of everything that H+K had to offer.

Built over the course of 36 hours, the design needed to accommodate large amounts of copy but still feel as playful and fun as the existing branding that we saw that Discover Puerto Rico already established. Using typefaces and colors based off the Discover Puerto Rico brand, I broke down the information into digestible blocks that a reader could jump around to; much like in a magazine. The concept art direction by Hannah Quick was to use quirky shapes as call-outs so I implemented them to add character to the overall look. This, paired with the expressive, editorial typographic lent itself to a design with as much personality as the people of Puerto Rico.

Aside from the magazine, we had also created a micro-site that readers could look-up via a QR code located within the magazine. We wanted to create a multi-layered approach to win the pitch.
