Black History Month 2022 Campaign for the Center for Constitutional Rights

For the Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR) celebration of Black History Month 2022, they wanted a social media campaign that represented the theme of "Black Rage: Protecting Love, Power, and Revolution" with an emphasis on the rage component, siting, "Rage is a righteous response to injustice. Black rage is a powerful source of insight into the intolerable reality of Anti-Black racism and a guiding force toward our collective liberation."

Under this guidance, I came up with several concept designs (see alternative options at the bottom of the page) with the winning visuals selected by the team shown here.

While keeping the concept still within the parameters of brand guidelines, the design system allows for multiple iterations that will change week to week for the entire month of February. Small details such as the use of the heart–representing the “love” component of the theme “Black Rage: Protecting Love, Power, and Revolution”–are taken from a library of symbols within the organization’s brand guidelines. In this way, the visuals are consistent with maintaining the image of CCR.

Consideration was given to a responsive design that would be adaptable enough to carry across social media, email, and web components of various dimensions.
